Bored?

warhammer expired, left 4 dead sold out, out of anime to watch, out of series to watch, out of forum to troll and u get wut i’m doing nw… pretty boring at the moment chatting with alfred which youtube-ing some live performances…

these couple of days have been a great one especially during the new year’s eve… got to kl with my family (minus my mum and bro) since my sis wanna go follow my cousin sis to get her PMR results… and gratz to her, 8As and appearing on tv? welldone i must say… on the other hand, i would need to be going to uni to enquire about my scholarship (and grab the form as well)   while meeting my lecturer on a part time project (thus a trip to the uni tomolo)…

the highlight of the trip was of course the new year’s eve… goodbye 2008 and welcome 2009… i hope everything would be jz as great as wut had 2008 offered me at least hehe… its alfred’s treat for shogun buffet dinner on the eve since he’ll be leaving to ausie on 14feb (gratz on ur ausie approval)… before that is was movie time and australia is a pretty good movie especially i’m pretty well versed with the australian histroy (and the aborigines) having done HSC as my pre-u… it was then followed by mario kart and i will announce my retirement from mario kart-ing as alfred won yet again $%!$%!&$…. then off to bowling… ya bite me, its my first time and i suck at it LOL… i generally tend to try and spin the ball on instinct and thus spinning it into the drain lol… even jp beat my score (/faceplam QQ)…

anyways the buffet was nice though i kidna felt i did nt eat enough to make alfred’s  money worth (I FORGOT TO SPAM THE ICE CREAM!!!)… i love spamming the japanese jelly though haha… overall the food and the quality is there and pretty much a wonderful meal… thanks alf! then back home with alf and haz crashing for the nite… the only problem? we forgot to bring some cards to play…

and yesterday, its my turn to treat the guys bak kut teh (minus haz of course lol) for being such great buddies (and i owe alf a meal)… later off we go to ftz… surprisingly, ftz is really lgiht on crowd… the cs crowd is totally non existance besides us… so we had some good rounds of frags… somehow they dun have warhammer so i could nt have a go at it at high settings sigh… and then its was impossible to play left4dead over the LAN without steam (though i know hw later on back home lol)…

so i’m pretty much bored today with nothing to do sigh… its been a long time since i got nothing to paly as all the while i’m busy trying to allocate my time to fill in my games… wont be reloading my warhammer as well until the fix the lag and after i finish all the games on my brother’s ps3… this year has been a great year for the ps3 with MGS4 sweeping so much awards… it was a blessing to me to be able to experience such great game…

24 hours is jz too short

These few days, i’m having so much dilemma on the short 24 hours that i have in a day and how can i make the best out of it… Besides my usual net surfing of daily a MUST website which would take me anywhere from 1 hour to infinite hours (lowyat is pretty addictive with all the funny stuffs they post there), i have shows to watch and games to play…

Heroes season 3 has finally ended with it coming back on Feb 4 2009 for season 4 aka Fugitive… Season 3 so far has been good though its not conclusive enough for me… All the thing about Peter needed Stylar’s ability to save the world is dissappear, Elle died (the cutest gal in the series for me) amd so much more… Somehow the heroes charm is sitll there making me wanna watch the 4th season despite the plot holes…

On the other hand, Gundam OO has been flying over the charts on how good it is from the start of season 2 (in fact from the second half of season 1)… Its fast paced, deep, intriguing, full of action, good songs and definately PERFECT… it even get better touching all the character’s past especially the meisters… The action is there from the superb gundam battles to the superweapon Momento Mori (ion cannon ready!)… Next episode gonna be epic with the Langarange 3base blown apart and the OO Riser! though i’m expecting it to get pwned in a few episode time… and the whole Lockon thingy didnt go away, i still miss the original Lockon… And finally Hallejuah is back, no more sissy useless Allejuah to pilot Arios…

Gaming wise, its been busy on both my laptop and the ps3… I do admit there were times where i often pondered did i  made a mistake to buy Warhammer as its begining to slow down for my white lion in T4… That totally went away when i joined Alfred rolling destro toons in Ironclaw… All the magic and charm of the WAR grew back on me… Being a pocket healer for Alf, i pew pew a lot with my shaman using the green laser of KSing! (i even got 9 killing blows with 3 solo kills being wut seemed to be a healer)… I’ve even rolled a Squig Herder and had a  blast with it… Ninja-ing and soloing vairous order in ORvR is really fun and i’m really psyche up for the t4 gear after seeing it online… Ever seen a SH survived an ambush by a WH 1v1? i did it and i’m proud of it… Seriously, T1 in warhammer is jz awesome! Currently waitin for patch 1.1a to kick in and i must say, all those content are jz pleassing for a gamer… sorry to all the WoW-Clone meme trolls out there, WAR > WoW for me…

I’ve finished Assasin’s Creed… Despite not being such a fan of it when it first came out due to the repititveness, somehow i got hooked to it and cant stopped playing it… Finished it and boy am i glad i did… The plot is wut kept me going, not the gameplay, not the graphics and seriously, IT DELIVERS! all the information end game jz flows together nicely and it really increases my general knowledge along the way…

The other game i’ve finished was Devil May Cry 4… Fun game nonethe less being a big DMC series fan (DMC was among the first game i bought for my ps2)… Using Nero on automatic is like having a gundam on transarm since it auto charges your exceed for you… The devil buster is really neat in chaining combos though in my point of view, Nero is no where close to Dante… i played Dante without automatic and overall i outperform Nero in every possible way i could getting multiple SS in combat, chaining weapons and guns till its over 9000 on the cool meter! Seriously, i would trade Nero anytime for Dante… Gamepaly wise, it sticks true to the whole DMC series with pretty epic boss fight… The story is not bad as well for a stylish action game…

I somehow could  not get myself to finish Resistance… The game is good, deserving the currently best exclusive FPS on the PS3 but the game jz get so damn FREAKING HARD as u near the end game! i somehow stopped playin after a stage or two to take short breaks due to the intenses-ness and dying sprees -_- Still the weapons are neat, action is intense and the AI is superb… only problem? my teammates die too fast… Gonna bring this baby online soon though…

Overall i totally enjoy the whole PS3 experience despite the costly game…  I could not grab my copy of Rachet & Clank: Tools of Destruction since the Sony Style at Gurney is overpricing it (199 bucks compared to 129 on sony’s website)… sitll its a game i gotta have and maybe i’ll get it together with Killzone 2 which would be the best FPS ever (srry Xbots XD)!

Last nite, had a minor meaningless debate with Haz on me not liking drama movies… Dun  get me wrong, i DO NOT HATE drama movies… I totally love ‘A Beautiful Mind’ damnit… Wut’s wrong with me not liking Twillight -_- I find the movie is geared for fangals and i have so many ppl agree-ing with me (guys)… The gals who watch it only rave about the guy, not the plot, not the effect, not anything ELSE! At least my gf agreed with me the movie is just mediacore…

On the other hand, the Dragonball movie trailer is finally out… It redeemed itself from all the horrible screens earlier on (Piccolo aint green wtf?) and thank god they recapture the scenes… Though i am really interested to watch Bolt (i like doggy!), Transporter 3 (been a fan of the first 2) and finally the movie that i msotly will watch with my gf, A Body of Lies which i think would be a good movie..

Metal Gear Solid 4

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best of the best, the epics of the epics and the legendary among the legendaries… Its the game that pushed the boundaries of gaming, its the game that showcased what a brilliant mind and vision Hideo Kojima-san has…

With that much said, you gotta be insane to own a Play Station 3 to not own this game! Even Hideo-san thinks the same with several PS3 promo ingame for example: -
- Otacon asking Snake to change disc only to said that with the blueray, you do not need to
- Psycho Mantis claiming taht vibration is back and there is no need for a memory card

The whole execution is flawless… It takes the entire series and then improved it… The controls maybe a little difficult to master and is pretty touch sensitive (tapping and holding etc) but its pretty much manageable even during CQC… The AI are pretty good in detecting you and the unmanned machines especially the drones play their roles to find you… The Geckos are a pain to fight against draining ur ammo while returning u with nothing…

The Drebin system is pretty handy to get you the upgrades and ammo u need for your guns and i finished the game without buying any guns from him… During saturday and sundays, you do get more discount from him while on act5 itself, its 50% off… It is possible to farm for the points and somehow, it makes u think twice either to stealth through the enemy or to gun him down and collect his ammo and gun for Drebin points…

The environment offers a slight sandbox experience where multiple routes are possible to a point and its up to your creativity… You can even utilize the Metal Gear Mk.II and then Mk.III to get pass certian points… Together with the solid eye, you can spot flaws in the enemies defence and sneak through them easily or discover hidden items such as ipod songs (it seems hideo-san is a big fan of ipod), ammos, items, weapons and upgrades…

Boss battles are always the highlight in the entire series… How can we forget Pyscho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid that we need to change the controller port to avoid mind reading or the large scale cant and mouse sniper battle in Metal Gear Solid 3… Here’s the roundup: -
- Laughing Octopus battle in a small shack limiting your movement while she stealthed herself ambusing you… The atmosphere is pretty disturbing to suit the beast itself and she can even mimic your frens leading you to bomb (yea i fell for the Mk.II Otacon voice asking me to follow it only to be blown to bits)…
- Raging Raven’s battle was epic in the sense us being in a tall building fighting Raven and her army… In other words, we are surrounded being able to be hitted from all angles… Aiming moving targets was hard and dodging missles ain’t easy…
- Crying Wolf is yet another awesome sniper battle in the series… Crying Wolf herself is pretty cool especially her railgun and its a pretty long battle to stay stealth from the frogs while trying to find the stealth wolf with limited batteries on you Solid Eye…
- Vamp battle is nothing much besides evading and gunning him down… Though you can’t kill an immortal.. Instead CQC him with a syringe to make him mortal concept was cool…
_ Screaming Mantis battle is by far the hardest being in a small area, cornered, trying to shoot a floating gal who is controlling every1 including Meryl… Beating it is ectremely rewarding particularly through the use of the sixaxis (the sixaxis word is a palindrome)
- Liquid Ocelot as the final battle is every bit i’ve hope for… Great music playing in the background as you fight Liquid just like in Metal Gear Solid 1 itself barefist… The cutscense thrown here and there together with the whole trip down the memory lane makes a perfect final boss battle…

Besides stealthing and gunning people down, you do have the ‘extras’… I loved the stalking mission a lot eventhough its a little wrong rotfl… The on the bike sequence was really awesome with nostalgic feeling from Metal Gear Solid 3 (Naked Snake)  while filled with lots of action… And who could forget riding REX itself, the thing we sought to destroy in the first game against RAY (the REX replacement Metal Gear)… All of these were presented superbly…

Presentation wise, this game push the limit on how a game is like… Tonnes of long cut scene which i concluded myself watching more cutscenes than actually playing the game… It feels like playing through a movie while a movie itself could never provide you with the atmosphere and interactiveness of something as huge as the Metal Gear Solid Saga… Backed with great music scores from time to time including timeless classic from previous games and superbly done flashbacks (from flashback images which u can press on prompt to the automatic voice in head of the codec conversations from previous games)… Metal Gear Solid veterans would feel this game is godsend… As i play through the game, there’s countless goosebumps from such experience that i’ve had…

There are some Hideo-san ‘extra’ touches along the way including the credits which jz ammuses me… In the voice actor section, you would see the “Voice of God – Hideo Kojima” lol!.. and u will see a credit of big boss’s voice actor… WHAT? i never heard big boss in the game! Only to be greeted with  another cutscene involving Big Boss itself… Its pretty shocking to see from the credits that Hideo-san actually took a big role in the development of the game including motion capture…

Overall this game is a masterpiece on what it may seemed like Hideo-san’s greatest work yet… Its sad that such saga has finally ended while i’m sitll keeping my fingers crossed on more of the Metal Gear experience out there… It totally worthy of all the perfect 10/10 or 5/5 reviews it had claimed out there… Technologically, it pushed the PS3 like no other games had yet while the brilliant execution in telling the whole Metal Gear story amazes you…

PS: Jack aka. Raiden was as cool and as kickass as i hope he would be… Dun wanna spoil wut happened though…
